Excursion trip to Tiya and Adadi Mariam
You drive south west of Addis to the Archaeological site of Tiya & Adadi Mariam. On the way you will have a chance to visit the country side and in particular the Gurage people. Since 1965, from October to January each year, geologists and archaeologists have been camping by the Awash River at this point, because two millions years ago at the entrance to the Gorge lived some of the earliest ancestors of mankind. They left tools, traces of meals and shelters behind which are now the focus of archaeological interest. You will be visiting this site and you will be back to Addis Ababa.
